On Sunday we loaded up our car with tubes and rafts and set off down the Truckee River with some friends. It’s a little late in the season, though, to be in the part of the river we were in. The river was too shallow, there were too many big rocks, and in many places we were left dragging the tubes through 2-inch-deep water rather than riding them. We did have a lot of fun when the river got wide and deep, but the going was slow. After three hours we had made it about half a mile and decided to call it quits. Next time we’ll find a better stretch of river to go down.
